I understand her thirst for revenge, her bitterness at being rejected over and over, and her decision take what she needs if no one gives it to her. But in her heart she fully believes that what she is doing is right. She is dark and twisted and petty and vengeful. She is such a fantastic character, and I think the reason for that is because Adelina is not a good person. Adelina grows not only in power, allies, but also in darkness. And ladies and gentlemen, this is how it’s done.įrom the very first page to the last, The Rose Society was a heart-pounding suspense and action filled page turner. This was probably one of the most amazing sequels I’ve ever read. Marie Lu definitely stepped it up a notch or two since The Young Elites, it a beautiful and surprisingly dark sequel. But how can someone be good when her very existence depends on darkness? But Adelina’s powers are growing out of control, and she sometimes her own visions trick her. Adelina struggles to cling to the good within her.

Her goal: to strike down the Inquisition Axis, and become Queen.
